SHAH ALAM: It wasn’t the promised cow but a calf that Parti Keadilan Rakyat Youth members brought as a “gift” to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday. The gift could not be delivered but PKR made sure the commission got the message with lots of puns.
“The MACC does not stand for the Malaysian Commission for Cows and Cars,” said PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
He was referring to allegations that Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had used state funds to purchase cattle for mosques in his constituency and to pay for the maintenance of his personal car.
Shamsul led a rowdy group of about 100 Youth members to the MACC office near Plaza Masalam about 2.30pm. With them was a small lorry transporting the calf.
The calf, with a list of allegations of corruption against former menteri besar Datuk Seri Dr Khir Toyo hung around its neck was paraded on the lorry for some 200 metres to the MACC office.
They were stopped at the entrance to Plaza Masalam by a human wall formed by the Federal Reserve Unit.
Shah Alam police chief Noor Azam Jamaludin allowed only four of the protesters to enter the MACC office.
There, the PKR Youth lodged a fresh report, claiming that Dr Khir had committed 20 graft offences during his two-term tenure as Selangor menteri besar between 2000 and 2008.
“We are going to file many corruption reports (against Dr Khir),” said Shamsul.
After lodging the report, he told the waiting pressmen that the calf protest was over MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan’s statement that they had enough evidence to charge Khalid over the car maintenance and purchase of cattle.
“He jumped the gun… the investigation papers are still classified as official secret.”
Shamsul said the calf also served as a harsh reminder to MACC that it was an anti-corruption agency.
“Dr Khir yesterday (Tuesday) denied that he was going to be charged by the MACC for corruption and proudly announced that he has been cleared of any charge of corruption.
“However, we were told that investigations were still ongoing.”
Selangor PKR Youth chief Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin chipped in: “We want to tell the MACC not to be led by the nose like a cow.”
He alleged that Dr Khir had bought apartments in Saudi Arabia worth millions.
He said the apartments were the same ones said to be purchased from Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) for more than RM17 million.
PNSB is now under scrutiny for alleged accounting irregularities over the acquisition and disposal of properties in Saudi Arabia.
Its chief executive officer Datin Khairiyah Abu Hassan and finance manager Nora Azmin Radzuan, who is also Selangor Puteri Umno chief, have been told to go on 30 days leave pending investigations.
On the calf, Khairul said it was given to the party by a supporter and had the veterinary documents for it to be brought out in public.

Time for this poor losers to realise..they are gone for good..only foolish people will stand with them
2009 is the year of Cow. So all agencies be it the PDRM, MACC and even the Sultan of Perak are becoming COW to BN. Lawan Tetap Lawan.
A calf is too good for the SPRM. I would dump a bucket of shit into their yard.
